Promoting social-emotional skills and diversity awareness among teachers in Europe
Training programme for the development of social-emotional skills and diversity awareness of teachers and others working in schools:
This programme has been developed for trainers who are committed to the continuous professional development of teachers and educators. It is designed to promote the development of social and emotional competences and diversity awareness (SEDA competences). It is primarily aimed at teachers and, without the expectation that teachers will integrate the exercises directly into their teaching, focuses on their own professional development.
The programme includes theoretical sections that provide context and combine theoretical concepts with practical exercises. It also takes into account diverse training contexts and allows trainers to modify explanations according to their national contexts. It is based on mindfulness practices, dialogue exercises, active listening exercises, personal language development exercises, diversity-specific exercises, group and partner work and individual exercises.
The English version of the programme is available here. The programme is also available in Croatian, German, Portuguese, Slovenian and Swedish.
Two manual versions are available in German, a detailed version with all programme content for teachers and a shortened version for school administrators and other people working in schools. More information: Hand in Hand project website
