In a festive ceremony at the Meerscheinschlössl of the University of Graz on March 15, 2026, the Josef Krainer-Science-Prizes 2026 were awarded. The Josef Krainer Recognition Awards 2026 were presented to young, but already distinguished researchers (e.g., through their postdoctoral qualifications) who are at an advanced stage of their careers.
This recognition for outstanding achievements was also awarded to Deputy Director of CERI, Lisa Paleczek, for her excellent habilitation thesis. The Rector of the University of Graz, Dr. Peter Riedler, and the President, Univ.-Prof. DDr. Gerald Schöpfer, Chair of the "Josef Krainer Styrian Memorial Foundation," praised these outstanding accomplishments and emphasized that research is becoming increasingly "female"—which was highlighted by the fact that eight out of this year's twelve prizes were awarded to women.
We warmly congratulate Univ.-Prof. Lisa Paleczek, PhD!
